Check these cards out. Makes me want to rush home and pull out my scrap pile and make some cards. How simple are they and yet very effective with using up scraps. LOVE IT.

This Family VaCay mini Album using envelopes – What a great mixed media album and she uses the envelopes to store extra photos from the vacation. I don’t know about you but I HATE to throw pictures away so this is a great way to incorporate them all into the album. http://bobstac.blogspot.com/2009/08/big-ol-update-o-rama.html

December Daily

If you are a follower of Ali Edwards you probably have a good idea of what the December Daily album is... The month of December is HUGE and Super BUSY at my house - my husband LOVES to decorate the house for the holidays and my birthday is in December too. So I thought it would be fun to document this month last year. It never happened!!! The album was started but never finished it - it actually was never even assembled. It currently sits on my scrap table waiting to be completed. My intention is to have it completed this year so all I have to do is add photos to actually document my 2009 December. Your holding me to it -right? In the mean time - check out Ali's inspiration to get you own December Daily started. I know its October but if the retail GIANTS can put out Christmas decorations before Halloween is even here then I can talk about my December Daily album - right ?

Class Kits and other Scrap Kits

So I have been actively working on cleaning the scrap room.

I have been finding several unfinished projects - half started layouts, club kits and even class projects that I have done nothing with for YEARS. I have decided I need to do something with the stuff or get rid of it.

What do you do with your old class projects? Several of them are items that I know I won't use or didn't like or at the time I was in love with them but now it's definitely not my style. I need some suggestions or hints? One class project I was planning on finishing it up and sending it to a friends that isn't a scrapbooker and let her have fun with it - another I was going to fill with pictures from a girls weekend and send as a gift. I am one of those people that can't toss anything if I spent over $30 to take the darn class to begin with... any suggestions? Any samples of projects that you have revamped to make it work with your current style? I would love to share them here.

Happy Scapping or Purging in my case :)

Paper Quilt

Sorry for the delay in posts lately. We hope to be back to our weekly postings on Thursday.

To help with the stash busting I am posting a sample of a paper quilt I put together - inspired by a class taught by
Shimelle several years ago. That I had the pleasure of taking.
This is a great way to use up scrap pieces of pattern paper or even some of those misc. embellishments lying around. This is all paper and was sewn together with a machine using a zigzag stitch. The pictures are printed on card stock (very important). Hope this gets some creative juices flowing for the weekend. I have tons of work ahead of me :) Jennie

Old Antique Ad Paper Pattern put to Use!

Inspiration piece was found in an article from Paper Craft's "225 Cards & Gifts" book – included above a close up of the samples from the article.

We had fun using old pattern paper to create new-looking embellishments with punches. This is a great project to get some of that paper off the racks and into your scrapbook albums and cards, all while using punches that you probably forgot that you had. We improvised by using a swirl stamp instead of chip board for the flower stems and think they turned out great. We also went a little butterfly crazy with a little inspiration from Ali Edwards

We should have tried embossing the edges of the butterfly wings little shown in the recent CK or instead of using antique paper maybe use a pattern paper with a large graphic on - to create a similar look with the same punchs.

We would love to see what you have done with your old antique K & Company paper, make sure to share. Stay tuned next week to see what else we can use from our scrap collection.

American Craft Cards

Now these are OLD School! Correct me if I am wrong, but I would say they are at least 5 years old. If you had them at one time, chanes are that you still have a stack like we do. Our LSS was going out of business and we bought up the whole inventory because we had GRAND ideas, and they were stashed away, til now.

We came up with a few ideas on how to use these great graphic cards.

1. They make great last minute cards - anything needed on the fly. Stamp something on the front and call it a day , or embellish with those fun items that you have been saving. Take them out and USE them!

2. Create a mini book cover, as seen here for a Key West Travel book.

3. Use a card to make a cd holder for those fun playlists you put together for friends or picture dvds. Complete the look with a hand- stiched vellum pocket to hold the disk. The vellum is from the coordinating AC Monograms paper line.

Do you have any ideas about how to use these old school American Craft Cards? If so, please share them with us here. We would love to find other great ways to bust our stash.
